Turkey retreated and called off its ongoing attack against U.S.-backed Syrian Kurdish forces, soon after the U.S. military launched Operation Overwhelming Concern in the region, sources confirmed today.

The operation kicked off late Wednesday, which featured a devastating salvo of senior Pentagon officials offering cautious statements, meaningless platitudes, and minor condemnations of Turkey as it attacked the U.S.-backed militia force that overwhelmingly defeated ISIS.

“Clearly we are very alert to what is happening,” Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Col. Ryan Dillon told reporters. “And we’re quite concerned by this Turkish incursion that could threaten to destabilize a destabilized region.”

During a trip to southeast Asia, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said he was “very concerned” by the actions of the Turkish military, which claimed it killed nearly 300 Kurdish fighters on Wednesday. President Donald Trump also launched a large-scale concern attack during a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“Recep, listen. I understand your anger at Kurdish militia forces and their ties to PKK terrorists, but this offensive you have launched, it has us very, very concerned over here. I can barely sleep over what is happening to these Kurds that fought and died on the frontlines for us,” said Trump, yawning during the phone call in the Oval Office.

“Also, there was no collusion. No collusion, okay? Believe me,” he added.

A spokesman for the Kurdish militia said he was “cautiously optimistic” that the Pentagon’s concern would soon be backed by US air and ground support in order to keep Turkey at bay.

“With everything we’ve done for the United States, I’m sure they will support us over their NATO ally that it has a major air base in and sells millions of dollars of weapons to,” the spokesman said. “I’m sure of it.”
