WASHINGTON — The White House Communications Agency says it will melt down the hundreds of commemorative coins it had minted earlier this week for a US-North Korea peace summit and re-press them to feature President Donald Trump facing off with President Donald Trump.
The decision to change the design of the coin came hours after the cancellation of the anticipated summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un that was scheduled to happen in Singapore next month.
The coins, originally featuring Trump on the left with an American flag backdrop and opposite North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un on the right with the North Korean flag behind, will now be re-pressed from the originals to feature President Trump's side mirrored and replacing Kim on the right.
