Is a call too much to ask for?
THE PENTAGON — The Department of the Navy is not mad at all at the Marine Corps for failing to get the Navy a Mother’s Day gift for the 245th year in a row, but people familiar with the matter say it would’ve been nice to get some kind of acknowledgment like all the other moms.
Relations have been strained between the Navy and Marines ever since the Marines lost their father, Maj. Samuel Nicholas, just before the service’s 14th birthday.
“Losing a father so early in a branch’s life can be extremely hard,” said psychologist Thomas Donahue. “The branch is still compensating even now with a combination of alcohol, hyper-masculinity, and animosity towards its mother service.”
The Marine Corps denied there were any problems and emphasized that it always attend the Navy’s birthday celebration despite thinking that it’s lame. Many within the Corps point out that if the Navy wanted a more respectful child, maybe they should’ve taken the time to raise one instead of heading out to sea every other year since the birth of the nation.
