Project 2025 to cut veterans
GOP blueprint offers bold vision to sacrifice those who have sacrificed
WASHINGTON — In a move hailed by many conservatives as the pinnacle of fiscal responsibility, Project 2025, a “blueprint for leadership” created by the Heritage Foundation, has unveiled a controversial new strategy to address budget concerns: the literal elimination of veterans.
The proposal, named after the year it aims to start implementation, goes beyond cutting veterans’ benefits to cutting veterans themselves, promising a dramatic reduction in the nation’s fiscal burden.
“We took a look at the data, and the best option for this country is to get rid of all the veterans,” said a Heritage Foundation source who asked to remain anonymous. “We sincerely thank them for their service, but it’s just time to get rid of ’em. Cut ’em, slash ’em, burn ’em, however, you want. I’m just tired of looking at them.”
Authored by right-wing policy architects who worked under the Trump administration, Project 2025 aims to replace experienced VA leaders with political appointees, slash federal spending, cut taxes, and privatize many government functions — particularly those serving veterans.
Brooks D. Tucker, a Trump administration appointee, and Darin Selnick, a known advocate for dismantling the Department of Veterans Affairs, spearheaded the chapter on veteran reforms. Their vision includes a more "permanent" solution to budget woes: the complete eradication of military veterans.
“The only way to solve a problem is to address the root cause,” Tucker remarked. “And the cause of our fiscal problems is giving money and substandard healthcare to those who served in wars our benefactors advocated for.”
Among the measures, Project 2025 proposes eliminating all VA medical care, which would lead to an instant $69 billion in savings. Additionally, it seeks to disqualify disabilities not directly caused by combat by disqualifying the individuals who have them, aiming for an estimated $37.6 billion in savings.
“Let’s get rid of these bags of flesh who are sucking up all our taxpayers’ dollars and oxygen,” Tucker added. “We thought the Dems would love that, I mean, just think of the environmental impact. There’s your Green New Deal.”
