Biden fires intern in charge of Afghanistan

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Seeking accountability after a much-criticized withdrawal from the nation’s longest war and recent grilling of Gen. Mark Milley by Congress, the White House has announced immediate personnel changes.

“After careful review of the actions and inactions taken by our nation’s military leadership during the withdrawal from Afghanistan, this administration demands accountability for its mistakes,” said White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. “That’s why we’ve asked intern Rusty Cosgrove for his resignation letter by the end of the week.”

Cosgrove, a junior at Ohio State, has been in charge of Afghanistan policy since late May when he began a summer internship at the White House.

“I needed something to pad out my resume,” said Cosgrove. “It was either manage policy in Afghanistan or work on my dad’s farm, and I didn’t want to spend the whole summer in Laurelville.”
