Biden considers forgiving troops' unpaid Ford Raptor loans
A Punisher decal may be thrown in for good measure.

WASHINGTON—President Joe Biden is considering forgiving troops’ unpaid Ford Raptor loans, according to people familiar with the matter, as he seeks to appeal to young military voters ahead of the November midterm elections.
With the current situation on Ford Raptor loan payments skyrocketing to a cumulative $1.2 trillion and some interest rates reaching 19.3%, new military members are under extreme financial burden. Biden told reporters last week that he hoped to decide on a specific amount by the end of September and a free Punisher decal to throw in for good measure.
Sources said that aggressive driving fines and speeding ticket forgiveness may follow the debt forgiveness, but the president hasn’t reached a final resolution on either move. Biden has been listening to appeals from DOD representatives to forgive large amounts of Ford Raptor debt and mail-order bride payments, and the extended deliberations have been voiced by angry young troops on TikTok.

It’s unclear if the approach will appease military members who wear Grunt Style shirts and a swathe of powerful military meme Facebook groups that have pressed Biden to “give us more BAH so we can buy a sweet .45!” The plan is intended to appeal to military voters under age 23, whose turnout could be as wide as the body gap between the cab and the bed on the Ford Raptor.
The president is intent on ensuring the loan forgiveness doesn’t benefit high-income department heads who have been through several divorces and spent all their money on a Polaris Slingshot, so the administration is likely to cap eligibility for pay grades above E-6 and or perhaps to all noncommissioned officers, one source said.
Biden has neared a decision on Ford Raptor forgiveness a few times in the last several months, according to one Democrat close to the White House. Yet concerns about worsening inflation have complicated the discussions and have no solution to the mounting sexual frustration of a majority of the owners of Ford Raptors.
“This announcement will help many young military members, some of whom have been struggling with debt for years, get their financial footing, and help keep them brake-checking 18-wheelers on the highway,” Biden said in a statement.
